Meet Steve

Hello. I am Steve Campbell, and I am running to represent the 96th District in the Wisconsin Assembly. My lifelong involvement in the communities of our District gives me a unique perspective on understanding our area's complex issues and concerns.

In the early years of my childhood, I was raised in a single-parent household by my Mother. A proud product of public education, I attended Viroqua Area Schools. I spent weekends and summers on my grandparents' farm and often tagged along on the milk route with my uncles and Grandfather, where I experienced firsthand family farmers' work ethic and resiliency. I grew up learning the true sense of community. I give credit to all the kind and caring mentors from my family, neighbors, school, jobs, etc., for helping guide me through my adolescence and shaping the person I am today. I graduated from UW La Crosse, where, as a college student, I started my first cleaning service business while working with youth at the Boys & Girls Club in Tomah and bartending part-time on the weekends.

Today, I own and operate two businesses in Viroqua. Campbell Family Homes is an assisted living business Helping those with other abilities live in and thrive in a familial, community setting. I see the difficulties families struggle with navigating care for their loved ones, and I understand how vital it is to care for and protect these vulnerable residents of our community. I also own a store on Main Street: Viroqua Variety, which celebrates our unique unglaciated (Driftless) region. I am the father of two children, Jordan and Kate. I want the best for my children and believe it is my responsibility to "Be the Change" I want to see in the world.

I intend to be a representative with an open-door policy so I can work to address the issues that are most important to our communities. I pledge to work relentlessly to be your voice in Madison.
